ANZAC Spirit at Gold Coast Turf Club

Date Released: Thursday 10th April 2008

NEWS RELEASE
ANZAC SPIRIT ALIVE AT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB
FREE ENTRY FOR DIGGERS ON ANZAC DAY

DATE RELEASED: TUESDAY 8TH APRIL 2008

JUST as the game of two-up lifted the spirits of the ANZAC troops, the Gold Coast Turf Club’s special ANZAC Day race meeting on Friday, 25th April 2008 will be a fitting tribute to the men and women who have fought for our freedoms.

Gold Coast Turf Club CEO, Grant Sheather, said the occasion will be “a relaxing day of celebration and heartfelt thanks.”

“Many Gold Coasters – veterans, their families and those who turn out to support them - will attend dawn and mid-morning services all over the city and we’d like to invite them to continue commemorating the ANZAC spirit at the racecourse,” Mr Sheather said.

“We’ve got a full on-track racing program planned.

“RSL Girl in a Million participants will be on track fundraising for the Returned Services League.

“ANZAC Day really is a special occasion worth honouring.

“And as a personal thank you from the Gold Coast Turf Club, returned servicemen and women will enjoy entry to the racecourse free of charge,” Mr Sheather said.

Gates open 10:00am and public entry is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for pensioners.
