THE Gold Coast Turf Club today announced a major fundraiser for the Victorian Bushfire and Northern Queensland Flood appeals.
The Australian Red Cross Raceday will be held on Saturday 7th March with all gate and race name proceeds going directly to the disaster relief efforts.
Gold Coast Turf Club Chief Executive, John Cameron, said he expects many thousands of dollars to be raised on the day.
“We are very aware that these terrible occurrences have happened in rural Australia and, as such, many people directly or indirectly associated with the equine and racing industries have been affected,” Mr Cameron said.
“The Gold Coast Turf Club is determined to help as much as we can and we urge all Gold Coast corporates and individuals who may not yet have given to the appeals to consider supporting the raceday.
“Every cent of the $7 gate fees along with all proceeds from the eight $1500 race names - $12,000 in total – will be handed over to the Australian Red Cross.
“The race names include invitations for six people to enjoy premium corporate hospitality in the new Director’s Lounge and two have already been sold,” he said.
People wanting to sponsor a race or obtain further information on the fundraiser can contact the Turf Club on 0755 381 599.
