HAWKESBURY RACE CLUB CEO TO PROVIDE ADVISORY SERVICES
THE Gold Coast Turf Club today officially announced the appointment of its senior executive.
Turf Club Chairman Andrew Eggleston said former Chief Executive Grant Sheather (41) will return from a management role on Hamilton Island to take the CEO reins from John Cameron who resigned in October.
High profile NSW racing administrator Brian Fletcher has been signed as a racing advisor and will work closely with Mr Sheather in the day-to-day operations of the club.
“Today’s announcement is significant in that we have two very experienced, capable and proven racing industry operators joining us,” Mr Eggleston said.
“Grant grew up on the Gold Coast, had twenty-two years experience in the racing industry before choosing to head to Hamilton Island in June 2008 and has held every position from operations, beverage and catering management to CEO.
“He has a Bachelor of Business and returns as someone who knows our operation inside out.
“Brian is widely regarding as one of the most progressive racing administrators in Australia and his services have been sought by many metropolitan clubs over the years, so we consider ourselves very fortunate that he’s agreed to be involved with us in this capacity,” he said.
Mr Eggleston said the immediate focus of the Board and executive will be to complete final planning for January’s 2010 Magic Millions Racing Carnival while continuing the rollout of a raft of club infrastructure improvements and raceday plans.
“Grant and Brian have come on board at what is both an exciting and critical time as the Gold Coast Turf Club moves forward.
“The future of racing on the Gold Coast is looking very bright indeed.
“But to achieve the heights I know we are capable of over the coming years, it’s going to take a lot of hard work at the top and unprecedented cooperation of the Board, staff, Members, trainers, owners, sponsors, government and every single person associated with our industry,” Mr Eggleston said. |
