GIRL’S DAY OUT TO BE BMW MAGIC MILLIONS HIGHLIGHT

Date Released: Wednesday 23rd December 2009

FASHIONISTAS SET TO LOOK A MILLION DOLLARS!

THE 2010 BMW Magic Millions Girl’s Day Out is set to attract thousands of well heeled women to the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday 2nd January.

It’s the second of the three Magic Millions race days, following the Carlton Draught Goldmarket on New Year’s Day.  And with a stellar program of racing, fashions, food and entertainment, organisers anticipate Girl’s Day Out – the traditional ‘ladies day’ of the carnival - will be a major highlight.

Turf Club Chairman, Andrew Eggleston, said his club is keen to establish the day as much more than a curtain raiser to the BMW Magic Millions feature day on Saturday 9th January.

“And as part of our never-ending efforts each year to progress the carnival race days we’ve really put everything in to making Girl’s Day Out a feature in itself,” Mr Eggleston said.

“Fashions have become such a huge part of our feature race days that we believe Girl’s Day Out deserves plenty of recognition as the day when the focus is squarely on fashions and the fashionistas.

“We’ve also signed a number of prestigious new fashions sponsors to ensure the glamour aspect of the event reaches new heights,” Mr Eggleston said.

Ladies taking part in the hotly contested Fashions on the Field competition will vie for some great prizes, including holidays, beauty and indulgence packs and more.

The 2010 categories are Best Classic Racewear, Best Contemporary Racewear, Most Fashionable Hat and Best Dressed Male.

The competition is free to enter and entrants simply register on the day.

There will also be a spectacular fashion parade by Igedo at noon and a free Fashion and Beauty Precinct will be located in the air-conditioned Dome.

It’s where the ladies can spoil themselves with complimentary make-up and hair touch ups, beauty tips and mini massages.

The on-track highlights of Girl’s Day Out include the running of the $85,000 Magic Millions 2YO Prelude and the Attwood Marshall Lawyers Bat Out Of Hell Quality Handicap – both over the sprint distance of 900m.

Sponsors of the day include Susan Pender Jewellery, Igedo, L’Aqua Day Spa, Bruce Lynton BMW Mini, Sunglass Hut, Starshots Surfers Paradise, Esteem Beauty and Day Spa, Princess Chic, Fancy A Fascinator, Simone Perele, Surfers Paradise Marriott, Blooming Tea, Cadbury Roses, Qdeck, Perfume Connection, Birch Carroll and Coyle and Frockshop.com.au.

There’s free racecourse entry for the ladies and gate entrance is only $10 for the men.
